FCC Calls for Suspension of Customs Recruitment Over Alleged Irregularities
The Federal Character Commission has called for the immediate suspension of the Nigeria Customs Service recruitment exercise over allegations of irregularities and non-compliance with federal character principles. The commission said it was not invited to monitor the process. It alleged that hundreds of candidates who appeared on the final list and completed screening, documentation and medical checks were not invited for training. According to the FCC, reports that unlisted applicants received training invitations have raised concerns about transparency and fairness. It has asked Customs to provide recruitment records, evidence of compliance approval and a reconciliation of the final list with those invited for training. The commission said it would investigate the complaints and seek correction of any verified irregularities.
