Kano Activates Emergency Centre After Reported Ebola Case in Abuja
Kano State has activated its Public Health Emergency Operations Centre after the Federal Government reported an imported Ebola case in Abuja. The patient is isolated and 44 close contacts are being monitored, according to the state health authorities. Residents have been urged to remain calm and follow health guidance. Anyone with sudden fever, weakness, severe headache, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain or unexplained bleeding should avoid self-medication and seek help from health officials or a health facility. Health authorities advised residents to wash their hands regularly, avoid contact with sick people and their belongings, and avoid handling dead bodies. Public and private health facilities have also been directed to maintain strict infection-prevention measures.
