Real Madrid Reportedly Eye Didier Deschamps as Mourinho Replacement

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly considering Didier Deschamps as a possible replacement for Jose Mourinho if the club’s results do not improve. Mourinho returned to the Santiago Bernabéu in the summer, but Madrid are said to be nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga. They can cut the gap when they face Sevilla on October 18. Madrid have won their opening two Champions League matches, including victories over Inter Milan and AS Roma. However, concerns reportedly remain over the team’s defending and midfield control. Deschamps left the France national team in July 2026 and is currently without a job. If appointed, it would be his first club role since managing Marseille from 2009 to 2012.
