Lagos State to Grant N50,000 Relief to All Workers in May
Lagos State will add a N50,000 relief payment to every worker’s May salary. The announcement came at the state’s Workers’ Day event at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, themed “Insecurity, Poverty – Bane of Decent Work.” Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat spoke on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He said the one-off payment aims to ease inflationary pressures and global energy shocks affecting workers. The governor’s office said this support covers teachers, health workers, artisans, civil servants and all other grades. Officials will review the gesture in the coming months to ensure continued relief. The administration also reaffirmed its commitment to workers’ welfare, infrastructure development and ongoing dialogue with organised labour to maintain industrial harmony.
