Court Sets November 20 Ruling on Atiku’s Bid to Amend Tinubu Certificate Suit
The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 20 to rule on Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress’ request to amend their suit seeking to bar President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress from the 2027 presidential election. Atiku’s counsel asked the court to allow new details, supporting documents and a written deposition to be added to the case. The applicants said they also needed to correct an error in the original filing, which referred to an INEC form as CF001 instead of EC9A. Tinubu, the APC and INEC opposed the request. Their lawyers argued that the proposed changes would introduce new facts and reliefs after the deadline for pre-election cases. The main suit alleges that Tinubu submitted a forged NYSC discharge certificate to INEC, an allegation Tinubu and the APC have denied.
