Odemwingie Tells Super Eagles Players to Prioritise Fitness and Hydration
Former Super Eagles forward Peter Odemwingie has urged Nigeria’s players to protect their fitness as they return for pre-season with their clubs. He stressed the importance of proper hydration and warned that excessive alcohol intake can affect players’ physical condition. Odemwingie recalled a humorous mix-up during a hot training session in a past Super Eagles camp, when a team doctor repeatedly advised players to hydrate. The advice comes as the Super Eagles, led by Eric Chelle, prepare for their next international window and the road to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Some players, including Victor Osimhen, have already begun their club preparations for the new season.
