Man Accused of Posing as 49ers Player to Defraud 26 Women of $1.3 Million

Man Accused of Posing as 49ers Player to Defraud 26 Women of $1.3 Million

US federal prosecutors have charged Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, over an alleged investment scam that reportedly defrauded 26 women of about $1.3 million. Prosecutors say Love posed online and on dating apps as a wealthy investor and San Francisco 49ers player. He allegedly gained some victims’ trust through romantic relationships before offering fake investment opportunities. Chan allegedly acted as Love’s financial adviser and helped create the appearance of legitimate investments using messages, screenshots and fake bank accounts. The pair were arrested at Boise Airport in Idaho on August 24 after authorities alleged they were travelling to meet potential victims. The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
