Easter Massacre in Benue: Amnesty International Condemns Tinubu’s Security Failures
Amnesty International has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its repeated inability to curb violence in Benue State. The rights group highlighted the Easter Sunday attack in Mbalom, Gwer East LGA, which left 17 people dead and dozens more injured. According to Amnesty International, gunmen stormed the community during festivities, burned homes and shops, and forced hundreds of families to flee. Many residents remain missing as families continue their search. The organization warned that recurring attacks have displaced over half a million people in Benue, depriving them of life, liberty and access to basic livelihoods. It called on Nigerian authorities to take urgent action to protect vulnerable communities.
