WAFCON 2026: South Africa Beat Burkina Faso to Set Up Morocco Quarter-Final
South Africa have reached the WAFCON quarter-finals after Thembi Kgatlana’s 21st-minute goal secured a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in Casablanca. The result sends Banyana Banyana through as runners-up in Group B, behind Côte d’Ivoire. They will face tournament hosts Morocco in the quarter-finals. South Africa recovered from an opening defeat to Tanzania and a 2-2 draw with Côte d’Ivoire to claim their first victory of the tournament. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
