Leverkusen Warn Victor Boniface After Frustrated Tunnel Exit
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has warned Victor Boniface after the Super Eagles striker left for the tunnel before the final whistle during Saturday’s 4-3 Bundesliga win over Mainz. Boniface was not used in the final substitution window, as coach Carles Martínez brought on Equi Fernández and Jonas Hofmann in the 84th minute. The Nigerian forward then bypassed the bench and headed into the dressing room. Martínez said the club would speak with Boniface, while Rolfes stressed that an early exit should not happen again. Boniface has had limited playing time this season, making only one brief league appearance so far despite showing encouraging fitness in training.
