Arsène Wenger Linked With Potential 2027 FIFA Presidency Bid Against Infantino
Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger is reportedly being considered as a possible challenger to FIFA president Gianni Infantino in the 2027 election. Reports say football officials opposed to some of Infantino’s recent decisions are discussing whether Wenger could unite support for a leadership change. The opposition grew after FIFA explored selling a minority stake in a proposed company to manage its tournaments, a plan later withdrawn following resistance from UEFA. Wenger has served as FIFA’s chief of global football development since 2019. He has not confirmed any intention to run. Presidential nominations close on November 18, 2026, ahead of the FIFA Congress election in Rabat, Morocco, on March 18, 2027.
