Ember Months: FRSC Warns Transporters Against Overloading and Mixed Loading

The Federal Road Safety Corps has warned transport operators against overloading vehicles and carrying passengers alongside goods or animals as the ember months approach. The Corps Marshal, represented by an Assistant Corps Marshal at a road-safety rally in Abuja, said excessive loads can make vehicles difficult to control during emergencies. He said the small financial gain from carrying extra loads cannot justify crashes, damaged vehicles and loss of life. The FRSC urged fleet owners, drivers and transport unions to follow safety standards and discourage mixed loading. It called for stronger cooperation among road users, transport operators and safety agencies to prevent avoidable festive-season casualties.
