Three Nigerians Arrested in Ghana Over Robberies Targeting Bank Customers
Police in Ghana’s Ashanti Region have arrested three Nigerian men suspected of belonging to a syndicate that targeted bank customers in Kumasi and nearby areas. The suspects were arrested in separate operations after police gathered intelligence about the alleged robberies. Police say officers recovered GH¢1,600, mobile phones, a motorbike and a master key during searches at two hotels. Investigators allege the suspects watched bank customers who withdrew large sums, followed them and robbed them. The master key was allegedly used to break into unattended vehicles. The suspects are also alleged to have admitted to taking GH¢15,000 from a victim in Asokore Mampong on October 27, after the victim withdrew money from a rural bank. Police say they are investigating possible links to other robberies in Kumasi. A fourth suspect, identified as Chinedu, alias Alhaji, remains at large. Police have urged the public to report credible information about the fugitive and advised bank customers not to leave cash or valuables unattended in vehicles.
