FG Tells Cement Producers: Cut Prices by July or Face Contract Pressure

The Federal Government has urged cement manufacturers to lower prices immediately, warning it will not approve contract increases driven by rising material costs. Works Minister David Umahi said surging cement prices are inflating budgets for roads, bridges, and housing projects. Umahi announced that formal talks with producers will begin on July 1 to find lasting solutions. He stressed that manufacturers, not contractors, must absorb cost pressures by boosting efficiency and expanding capacity to meet growing demand from national infrastructure schemes.
