When My Phone Almost Replaced God in My Daily Life
I never grew up with a mobile phone, yet life felt complete and uninterrupted. Decades later, my smartphone became so essential that I wondered if I could go a single day without it. When my phone finally broke beyond repair last year and I spent more than a week without one, I discovered how deeply it had been stealing time from my prayer life. With no constant notifications or social media pulls, I found more freedom to focus on God than I had in years. That unexpected break became a blessing. I still used a borrowed device to share the Gospel and play audio teachings during my 10-day dry fast. But without my own phone’s distractions, my daily prayers became richer and more intentional. I’m grateful for the benefits of modern technology, yet I remain careful to guard my time with God. Phones may come and go, but my relationship with the Lord is what truly sustains me.
