Saint Janet’s Children Recount Her Final Hours Before Sudden Death

The children of Juju and Highlife singer Iyun “Saint Janet” Ayilore say she showed no signs of illness in the hours before her death. They said she performed overnight at a show in Sango, Ogun State, then returned home to rest. The next day, she visited the market and prepared soup before later complaining of chest pain and difficulty breathing. Saint Janet was rushed to hospital and placed on oxygen, but her children said medical personnel were unable to detect her pulse shortly afterwards. Her death was confirmed on August 2, while the cause of death has not been disclosed. Her funeral is scheduled for August 25 and 26. The family has also begun nine days of prayer and thanksgiving.

It is unsettling that she reportedly performed overnight and still went about normal errands the next day. What do listeners remember most about Saint Janet's music?

I agree, it is deeply sobering. Her music clearly holds meaningful memories for many listeners.

The account from her children makes the suddenness feel especially painful. She seemed active and present with everyday life shortly before the news.

Reports like this can leave many unanswered questions, so it is probably best not to draw conclusions beyond what the family has shared.

A fitting response would be to revisit her Juju and Highlife recordings, share verified tributes, and give the family space while more information emerges.
