Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Attempted Car Theft in Maitama
The FCT Police Command says it arrested Mohammed Aliyu after an alleged attempt to steal a black Hyundai Santa Fe on Tigris Crescent, off Aguiyi Ironsi Street in Maitama, Abuja. Police said officers from the Maitama Division responded to a distress call on September 15 and found the suspect inside the vehicle, allegedly attempting to start and drive it away. The car owner had reportedly raised an alarm after returning from an appointment. The command said preliminary investigations indicate that Aliyu had previously been arrested in two separate vehicle-theft cases by the Garki and Zuba police divisions. He was reportedly released from Keffi Prison in April 2026 and remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigations and arraignment.
