FUOYE Threatens Legal Action Over Cybercrime Reports Linking VC to Allegations
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has threatened legal action against media organisations over reports linking its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, and other senior officials to alleged cybercrime. In a statement issued by the university’s Registrar, FUOYE said the reports presented unproven allegations as facts and could damage the reputations of the Vice-Chancellor and the institution. The university said its lawyers were reviewing the publications and would ask the publishers to provide explanations and credible evidence. It added that the controversy stemmed from an audio recording that was already in public circulation before management became aware of it. FUOYE said its records contain no evidence that Ogunwole illegally obtained, recorded or altered any private conversation.
