Bennett Proposes Strikes on Iran, Labels Qatar an Enemy State Ahead of Israeli Election

Former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett has unveiled an election security plan built around tougher responses to Iran, Hezbollah, Qatar, Turkey and illegal weapons inside Israel. He said the October 7 attack showed that Israel’s previous security assumptions had failed. Bennett proposed that every Hezbollah attack should trigger a strike on Iran. He also said he would formally designate Qatar an enemy state, remove Turkey and Qatar from Gaza’s postwar arrangements, and work with Egypt instead while preserving Israeli military freedom of action in Gaza. He further pledged to treat illegal weapons as a national-security threat and to end military-service exemptions for Haredi men. I have been telling people that Netanyahu is already viewed as soft by many Israeli politicians. If figures like Bennett, Bezalel Smotrich or Itamar Ben-Gvir win the October election, some people may end up wishing Netanyahu had remained prime minister.
