The Premier League’s 3 Bs: Why Big Clubs Must Fear Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth
For more than three seasons, I have watched Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth grow into difficult opponents for the Premier League’s biggest clubs. I call them the “3 Bs.” Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea cannot afford to relax against any of them. Brighton and Bournemouth have repeatedly troubled my Manchester United, while Bournemouth have also taken points off Arsenal and City. Liverpool and Chelsea have had their own difficult moments too. Brentford’s recent 3–0 win over Chelsea is another reminder. Brighton face Arsenal next, while Bournemouth play Liverpool. I expect at least one more upset, especially because all three teams are playing at home. The 3 Bs are no longer easy fixtures. Underestimate them at your own peril, because their surprise results keep the banter alive for all football fans.
