Ex-Alpha-Beta Employee Threatens ₦200m Defamation Suit Over Misconduct Claims

A former Alpha-Beta Consulting LLP employee, Oluwasegun Oluwasanmi, has threatened a ₦200 million defamation suit against the tax consulting firm over statements he says damaged his reputation. Alpha-Beta has been linked in public reporting to President Bola Tinubu. In a July 27 pre-action letter, Oluwasanmi’s lawyer demanded a retraction, public apology, removal of the publication and compensation within 14 days. He disputes the company’s claim that his exit followed a documented history of misconduct, insubordination and breaches of internal standards. Oluwasanmi says the statements were made in Alpha-Beta’s response to corruption allegations involving the firm. He maintains that he was never dismissed for misconduct or subjected to a disciplinary process, and argues that the company’s comments harmed his career and professional standing. The dispute is separate from ongoing cybercrime charges against Oluwasanmi and four other former employees over online publications and messages linked to allegations concerning Alpha-Beta and its management. The allegations remain before the court.
