My Husband Almost Buried Our Son Before I Got Home

My Husband Almost Buried Our Son Before I Got Home

Ahmad and Godiya’s decades-long marriage was tested after the sudden death of their 17-year-old son, Farouk. While Godiya was away on an official assignment, Farouk’s ulcer complications became fatal after he was taken to hospital alone. Ahmad struggled to tell his wife that their son had died. As relatives began preparing for a quick burial, Godiya returned home to discover Farouk was gone and that plans had been made to bury him without her knowledge. She blamed Ahmad for not acting sooner, withholding the news and sending Farouk to university at a young age. Their grief drove them apart for months and Godiya considered divorce. Over time, faith, forgiveness and concern for their daughter helped them reconnect. They are now trying to rebuild their marriage while living with the pain of losing their son.
