When Trouble Comes, Psalm 46 Reminds Us God Is Near

Life can change suddenly through financial pressure, a struggling business, a broken relationship or a loved one’s illness. In uncertain times, Psalm 46:1 reminds us: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” The verse does not deny hardship; it points to God’s presence through it. The psalm describes God as a refuge, not because faithful people never face danger, but because they can seek strength and support amid difficulty. Sometimes help comes through courage, wisdom, caring people or peace while circumstances remain unresolved.
