Police Detain Three Vigilantes After Man Dies in Bauchi Custody
The Bauchi State Police Command has opened an investigation into the death of 39-year-old Abdulrazak Ibrahim at a vigilante office in Bakin Kura, Bauchi Local Government Area. Police said Ibrahim was invited to the office after his mother reported an alleged theft. He reportedly died while in the vigilantes’ custody during the investigation. Three vigilante members who were on duty have been detained to assist detectives. The body has been moved to the ATBU Teaching Hospital mortuary, while an autopsy will determine the cause of death. The police commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation and warned against jungle justice and other extrajudicial actions.
