Nigerian Student Jailed in UK for Attempted Child Sexual Grooming

A Nigerian student in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of attempting to meet someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sexual activity. The court heard that he exchanged extensive messages with a decoy profile over eight days after being repeatedly told the person was underage. Prosecutors said the messages included requests for sexual images and plans to meet at a shopping centre in Tyne and Wear. He was arrested after arriving at the agreed location. He was convicted of attempting sexual communication with a child and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. The court also placed him on the sex offenders register and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He may face deportation after completing his sentence.
