Queens Mosque Leader Arrested for Alleged Abuse of Two 10-Year-Old Girls
A religious leader at Masjid Bilal Queens Islamic Center was taken into custody after two separate allegations that he groped young girls inside the mosque. The Queens Child Abuse Squad arrested 55-year-old Tajul Islam on charges including sexual abuse, forcible touching, and unlawful dealing with a minor. Court documents say he allegedly approached a 10-year-old girl, grabbed her breast and inner thigh, then repeated the act against another 10-year-old days later. Islam pleaded not guilty at arraignment and was held on $25,000 bail. A judge also issued temporary protection orders. Authorities are urging anyone with information or additional victims to contact the NYPD Sex Crimes Hotline.
