NLC Pickets Abuja Engineering Firm Over Alleged Safety and Workers’ Rights Violations
The Nigeria Labour Congress has picketed Wizchino Engineering Company Limited in Abuja over allegations of unsafe working conditions, anti-union practices and poor welfare. Labour leaders alleged that two workers died in separate incidents linked to the company. They also claimed workers lacked access to a registered clinic and essential protective gear, including helmets, boots and gloves. The NLC and the construction workers’ union are demanding the right to unionise, fair pay, clear employment terms and collective bargaining. They said the action could continue and widen if the company’s management does not address the allegations.
