Senator Hanga Holds Closed-Door Talks with APC Chairman Amid Defection Speculation

The National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, met privately with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senator Rufai Hanga. The discussions centred on unity, peace and the progress of Kano State ahead of the 2027 elections. Yilwatda praised Hanga as a leading figure of the NDC in Kano and urged political leaders to foster dialogue and place citizens’ interests above partisan divides. This meeting comes amid shifting alliances in Kano politics. Hanga recently lost his party’s senatorial ticket to a former deputy governor and has voiced frustration over his role in the NDC, stoking rumours of a possible defection.
