Plateau Government Charges Five Suspects Over Angwan‐Rukuba Killings
A few weeks after President Tinubu’s visit and promise of justice, Plateau State filed charges against five men arrested by the DSS in connection with the March 2026 Angwan-Rukuba attacks. Three suspects—Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (aka Auwalu Dogo) and Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (aka Yaroro)—face terrorism conspiracy counts under Plateau’s Penal Code. Adamu Isa Alhassan is additionally charged with culpable homicide, illegal firearm possession and arms trafficking. All were arrested between April 3 and April 10, and the Attorney General says their actions “contrary to Section 269” of state law. The court papers allege the group funded and planned attacks that killed over 30 people. Similar violence earlier in Bokkos and Bassa led to calls for cancelling the “Experience Plateau” festival. Governor Mutfwang refused, calling the violence a genocide and urging the international community to act, while pledging that Plateau’s spirit cannot be broken.
