Ooni Urges Politicians to Put Citizens First at 2026 Olojo Festival

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has urged Nigerian political leaders to put citizens’ welfare and the national interest ahead of personal or political considerations. Speaking during traditional rites for the 2026 Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, Osun State, the monarch said public office should be used to improve lives, strengthen unity and promote peace across the country. He also called on Nigerians to support efforts toward national development. The Ooni described Olojo as a festival of thanksgiving, hope and renewal. He said the annual celebration preserves Yoruba heritage while drawing visitors whose spending supports traders, transport operators, food vendors and hospitality businesses in Ile-Ife.
