Genuine Repentance Goes Beyond Saying Sorry

Genuine repentance is more than feeling ashamed after getting caught or facing the consequences of sin. A hollow apology focuses on personal discomfort, while true repentance recognises the wrong done before God and others. Real repentance leads to a change of direction. It accepts consequences, rebuilds trust and makes specific commitments to avoid repeating the same behaviour. Confession is not the end of the process; it is the beginning of transformation. We should examine whether our apologies are producing lasting change. Feeling bad about sexual sin is not enough if we remain committed to the same pattern. True repentance may cost pride, comfort or relationships, but it leads to freedom. Confession: I acknowledge that sex is sacred and designed by God for divine purposes. By His grace, I will honour and uphold its sanctity. Amen.
