Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Target $3 Billion in Agricultural and Food Trade Within Two Years

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to deepen cooperation in agriculture and food trade, targeting $3 billion in Pakistani agricultural and food exports to the Saudi market within two years. The target was discussed in Islamabad during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al-Fadley. Talks focused on improving market access and creating opportunities for Pakistani farmers, food processors and exporters. Pakistan hopes to expand exports of rice, fruits, vegetables, meat and other food products. Saudi Arabia, which relies heavily on food imports, is also exploring agricultural investment opportunities in Pakistan to strengthen its food-security supply chain. Meeting the target will require improved production, quality standards, logistics and investment across Pakistan’s agricultural value chain.
