Atiba University DVC Draws Backlash After Confronting Protesting Law Students
Atiba University law students protested after the Council of Legal Education imposed a 10-year moratorium on the institution’s Law programme, citing inadequate facilities and regulatory violations. During the protest, the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor told students to remain calm but later described some of them as “intellectually bankrupt.” The remark triggered boos and intensified anger among students worried about their future at the Nigerian Law School. The council said the university admitted and graduated Law students without the required approval. NANS has backed the students, accused the management of continuing admissions despite the concerns, and called for a clear pathway for affected students and graduates.
