Anambra FA Says Solution FC Is Now Akubudike FC, Ministry Denies Sale or Renaming
Conflicting statements have created uncertainty over the ownership and identity of Anambra State-owned Solution FC, which plays in the Nigeria National League. The Anambra State Football Association notified the league of an alleged sale or transfer of the club and a change of name to Akubudike FC, Awka. In its September 16 letter to the NNL, the FA said the new management planned to strengthen the club’s administrative and technical structure and requested that league records be updated to reflect the name Akubudike FC. However, the Anambra Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has denied approving any sale or renaming. In an October 14 statement, the ministry said Solution FC remains under its management and urged the public to rely on official channels for information about the club’s status. The financier linked to Akubudike FC says the project is intended to create opportunities and develop young football talents in Anambra and beyond.
