Kebbi Police Detain Two Nurses Over Fatal Injection Error That Killed Two Sisters
Police in Kebbi State have arrested two nurses after a three-year-old and her six-year-old sister died following the administration of the wrong injection at the General Hospital in Zuru on March 18. The state government set up a nine-member panel led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture to investigate the circumstances of the deaths. Authorities have also donated N10 million to the bereaved family as a gesture of support. At a presentation in the Emir’s Palace, officials noted that no amount of money can replace the sisters’ lives but hoped the donation would ease the family’s trauma. The Emir of Zuru urged them to remain steadfast in faith and praised the governor’s quick action. During ongoing hearings, medical officers and hospital staff have given testimony. The panel has highlighted communication gaps among personnel as a key issue requiring urgent attention.
