Ogun Police Nab Suspect in Igbesa Motorcyclist Murder

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 27-year-old Chidi Ebere for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist in Igbesa, Ogun State. This was confirmed in a press release by the command’s PPRO, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi. According to the statement, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at about 7 a.m., the suspect boarded the victim’s motorcycle and attacked him with a knife during an attempted theft. A witness raised the alarm, and officers rushed to the scene. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Sunday Ogbu, was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead. The suspect was detained, and the motorcycle and knife were recovered as exhibits. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation. Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni condemns the act and assures justice will be served.
