Is Prosperity Preaching Replacing the True Gospel?
I want to challenge a common belief: the Gospel is not a formula for wealth or a guarantee of comfort. It is not a divine insurance policy against hardship. I believe God provides and opens doors. But provision is not the centre of the Gospel—Christ is. Somewhere along the line, our message shifted. We began to measure faith by visible success instead of sacrifice. Look at the early Church in Acts. They faced persecution, imprisonment and loss of property. Yet they still turned the world upside down. Paul wrote letters from prison, not a penthouse. Faith was never about prosperity alone. When we equate belief with wealth, struggling believers suffer guilt and doubt. True discipleship calls for daily surrender, not just declarations of increase. The Gospel is Christ crucified, sin forgiven and lives transformed—not a promise of luxury.
