Oshiomhole: APC Governors Feared I’d Force Tinubu as 2023 Candidate

Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole explained why some APC governors opposed his continuation as national chairman. They believed he would impose Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate in 2023. He said his tenure was defined by defending party rules and organising free, fair primaries. He recalled how the Ogun State governor defied the National Working Committee and held parallel primaries. The APC upheld its own exercise that produced Dapo Abiodun as governor. Oshiomhole added that some governors told him they had no personal issue with him. Their real concern was that he might override party consensus. He stressed that his decisions were guided strictly by the constitution and democratic principles.
