Three Sisters Die After Boat Capsizes at Tiga Dam in Kano
Three sisters, Murjanatu, Atikatu and Bilkisu, popularly known as Amira, have died after a boat capsized at Tiga Dam in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State. The incident reportedly occurred around 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The sisters were from the same household in the Yalwan Rugu-Rugu community. The chairperson of Tudun Wada Local Government, Saadatu Salisu Soja Maijamaa, described the tragedy as a devastating loss for the family and community. Residents and sympathisers are mourning the victims. Authorities had not issued an official statement on the cause of the canoe mishap as of press time.
