INEC and Nigerian Air Force Strengthen Security Partnership for 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have reaffirmed their partnership to guarantee secure and efficient operations for the 2027 general elections. During a courtesy visit by Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke at INEC’s Abuja headquarters, both agencies agreed to boost logistics, security coordination and operational support. The NAF promised rapid airlift services, security assistance and advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. It will also deploy alternative aircraft while some C-130s undergo maintenance abroad. These measures aim to ensure timely distribution of electoral materials in remote and challenging terrains. INEC Chairman Joash Ojo Amupitan thanked the Air Force for its support and underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation. Both institutions pledged to maintain neutrality, professionalism and adherence to the rule of law to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process.
