At Independence Service, Sanwo-Olu Calls for National Unity and Shared Responsibility

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Nigerians to set aside ethnic and religious divisions and work together for a peaceful, stronger and more prosperous country. Speaking through his deputy, Kadri Hamzat, at a special Jumat service marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day in Alausa, Sanwo-Olu said the country has the talent, natural resources and human capacity to achieve lasting development. He said unity around a common purpose remains essential. The governor said nation-building should not be left to government alone, calling on religious and traditional leaders, businesses and citizens to play their part. Religious leaders at the service also urged Nigerians to reject tribalism, intolerance and blame, and take greater responsibility for their communities.
