Divine Dependence: Why Believers Must Not Rely on Self Alone
Confidence is valuable, but it becomes dangerous when it makes us believe we no longer need God. Healthy confidence recognises the abilities God has given us while continuing to depend on Him for wisdom, direction and strength. Proverbs 3:5–6 teaches us to trust God rather than rely completely on our own understanding. Success, experience, connections and financial resources can be useful, but they should never replace prayer, humility or godly counsel. Jesus reminds believers that lasting fruitfulness comes from remaining connected to Him. Before major decisions, in family matters, business plans and daily choices, we should seek God’s direction and give Him the glory for every achievement. True confidence is not believing that we can do everything alone. It is trusting that God will strengthen and guide us for every assignment He has given us.
