Flydubai Co-Pilot Suspected in Mid-Air Attack Was Previously Flagged, Report Says
Authorities are investigating reports that Flydubai first officer Hamam Al Hammami allegedly attacked the captain of a flight bound for Tel Aviv and attempted to force the aircraft into a dive. The plane landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after the captain, passengers and an off-duty pilot intervened. Sources cited by international media said Al Hammami had previously been suspended from flight duties at Oman Air after allegedly being found with extremist material. Investigators are examining how he later obtained a cockpit role with Flydubai. Flydubai has suspended flights to Tel Aviv while authorities conduct an official investigation. The suspect has reportedly been transferred to the United Arab Emirates and is cooperating with investigators. The allegations have not yet been independently confirmed by the airlines or Omani authorities.
