Should Men Be Congratulated or Sympathised With After Marriage?
I believe marriage should be a partnership, not an escape route from poverty. With the rising cost of living, some women may see marriage as relief from rent, food, transport and other daily pressures. In such cases, a man’s income, savings and plans can suddenly become a shared responsibility. Many men are expected to be providers, problem-solvers and emotional pillars, even when they are struggling themselves. Society often celebrates a woman for finding a good husband but rarely asks whether the man is prepared for the financial and emotional demands placed on him. This does not mean every woman marries for financial security or that women do not make sacrifices. Many couples build together and support each other. But when marriage is treated as a solution to poverty rather than a mutual partnership, one person may end up carrying too much of the burden. Love is valuable, but so are honest conversations about money, responsibilities and shared effort before marriage.
