Gunmen who abducted NYSC members travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja have reportedly demanded ₦20 million ransom for each victim. The corps members were returning from their three-week orientation camp when they were attacked on the Aloma-Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State. A relative of one victim said the kidnappers had contacted the family with the ransom demand. The Kogi State Police Command confirmed that passengers, including corps members, were abducted along the route. It said 11 people, including the drivers of the two vehicles involved, were rescued during a joint security operation, while efforts continued to locate and free those still in captivity. Families of the victims have appealed to the Federal Government, NYSC and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts.
