Warning Signs to Watch for in New Intervention Grant Schemes
Be careful with any new “intervention grant” that promises huge payouts after registration through NGOs, cooperatives, coordinators or cluster heads. Similar schemes have appeared under names including SEM, Ishiba, OSSEA, Golden Bridge, TELPECON, Theobarth Global Foundation, USAGE and UAAG. The names may change, but the pattern often looks alike: beneficiaries are recruited, documents and forms are collected, payments are delayed, and fresh fees or requirements may later emerge. Participants are then left waiting while attention shifts to another grant programme. The ICPC previously warned that it was not partnering with or monitoring the Theobarth Global Foundation Grant. UAAG also said in 2024 that anyone demanding payment in its name was a scammer. Before joining any grant programme, verify its organisers independently. Do not pay “processing”, registration or disbursement fees, and be wary of anyone guaranteeing millions of naira with no clear government or institutional backing.
