JAMB Seeks INEC Biometric Technology to Strengthen UTME Verification

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to support its efforts to improve biometric verification for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. During a meeting in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina said the board hopes to benefit from INEC’s experience and potentially use biometric verification equipment that is no longer actively deployed by the commission. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan directed the commission’s ICT department to assess JAMB’s request and determine whether the equipment is available and suitable for use. He said both agencies would also explore other areas of cooperation.
