Serve God Without Compromising Your Conscience
Our service may be offered through people, leaders or institutions, but our ultimate accountability is to God. Honour legitimate authority, yet never allow loyalty to anyone to lead you into wrongdoing. Scripture warns us through examples such as Joab and Doeg, whose obedience to sinful commands made them instruments of evil. Not every instruction deserves obedience, especially when it requires lies, deception, oppression, harm or injustice. Let every assignment pass through the filter of God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the courage to serve faithfully while refusing anything that compromises your conscience. Meditation: Have I ever allowed loyalty to a person to influence me to do what I know is against God’s Word?
