Nigeria Rugby League Set to Begin in November 2026
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation has announced plans to launch the Nigeria Rugby League in November 2026 after securing support for the competition. The league will start with regional contests across the six geopolitical zones. The six regional champions will then qualify for the national Super Cup finals in Abuja in February 2027. The proposed format includes six men’s teams and six women’s teams. A committee is reviewing the structure and is expected to submit its recommendations to the federation’s board next Thursday. Six team managers have also been appointed to coordinate rugby activities in the zones and improve communication with state rugby associations.
