Oyo Woman Accuses 70-Year-Old Husband of Exchanging Nude Photos as Marriage Dissolution Case Opens
A 70-year-old man has asked the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, to dissolve his nearly 30-year marriage. He alleged that his wife was violent, destructive and repeatedly humiliated him, including during his 70th birthday celebration. He told the court that she allegedly threatened him with a knife, tore his clothes and damaged his birthday cake. He also accused her of telling neighbours and relatives that he was sexually inadequate. His wife agreed to the dissolution but accused him of neglecting her and their children, physically assaulting her and failing to properly fulfil marital obligations. She further alleged that she caught him exchanging nude photographs with a woman he met on Facebook. The wife asked for custody of their children and for the husband to be responsible for their upkeep. The court adjourned the matter for further hearing.
